Running4Women are fortunate to be in a position to attract some of the sports top experts. Our years of involvement in the sport of running has enabled us to build a large network of experts in a variety of fields. A brief introduction to our resident experts can be seen here but we also have access to many more, some of whom will be contributing articles to our site on a regular basis.

Angela now works full time at Essential Physio in Chiswick, West London. Her clinical areas of interest include running-related injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation and headaches. Kate Percy

"I took up marathon running in 2004 and have run countless half-marathons and cross-country races, as well as full marathons in New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Stockholm. I have a good enough qualifying time now for automatic entry into prestigious marathons such as Boston (planned for 2010) and London. I also enjoy fell-running, cycling, swimming, moutain-biking, sailing…basically anything that involves being outdoors in the fresh air.
I am passionate about cooking and eating well and the vital role food plays in fuelling endurance and recovery, both for race day and during training. I became interested in the relationship between healthy eating and endurance sports by accident really.  Back in 2000, when my husband, Mark, was training for both the Windsor Triathlon and the New York Marathon, it struck me that I had to radically change his diet. He was lethargic and finding it hard to train; he would complain that he was tired and hungry all the time and he would yawn constantly.  I decided to study nutrition, I changed our diet and, like magic, Mark began to feel more energised and started to actually enjoy his training.
Over the years I have developed an in-depth knowledge of which foods help endurance and recovery and have created a range of healthy, tasty and inspirational recipes; recipes which translate dry nutritional theory into real, everyday meals to help athletes increase their stamina and achieve their personal best.
In addition to writing my recent book, Go Faster Food, I write a regular blog and articles on food and nutrition for the Sunday Times and magazines such as Runner's World and Running Fitness."

Clifton Bradeley

In 1985 Clifton took his place in the starting line up in the 1500m for Great Britain v USA Indoor Meet, against Olympic medalist Jim Spivey (USA), James Mays (USA), Bob Verbeke etc. Clifton broke the UK Indoors All-Comers record becoming the first man to run sub-4 minute mile Indoors on British soil; the first Staffordshire man to run under 4 minutes for the mile and the fastest man in the world at that time. Clifton Bradeley had arrived on the world athletics stage!

Tragedy followed. Unknown to Clifton at that time he had an anatomically long right leg by approximately 8mm, By running indoors on a banked track a great deal of stress was placed on his pelvis creating unexplainable pain at the pubic symphisis (one of the joints that joins each side of the pelvis together). Within two weeks Clifton's was diagnosed with Osteitis pubis a career finishing injury due the long period of time it takes to heal, due to poor blood supply to the area. Unknown to Clifton at the time, his international running career was sadly over.
A decision was taken to send Clifton to see a Sports Podiatrist in New York City who specialised in biomechanics. Clifton received his first set of bespoke functional orthoses, which helped him recover over a further two years. On his return to England Clifton was so impressed that he trained to become a Sports Podiatrist himself specialising in biomechanics. He trained intensively at Huddersfield University; Manchester Metropolitan University; Nene College Northampton and is now the managing director and clinical director of Sub-4 Ltd (orthotics and biomechanics lab). He has treated over 15000 athletes over twenty years and now works for a number of top sports peronalities all over the world. Clifton works for a number of top premiership football clubs and has assessed footballers like Michael Owen, Kieron Dyer, Nicky Butt and other England internationals
He also works extensively with ASICS the footwear company as their biomechanics consultant and is currently helping a number of young athletes prepare for the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

The assessment consultations at the Sub-4 Ltd Centre for Biomechanics Excellence are carried out by Clifton Bradeley, Mchs, SRCh. CPS Sports Pod, DPodM, Cert. Electrosurgeon, HPC Registered.
