If You Had To Stop Running Tomorrow What Would You Miss Most?

Early last year we conducted a survey amongst our Newsletter subscribers and amongst the questions was this one. We had over 1000 responses to this and I have taken the Top 25 and placed them below in no particular order. If you would like to add you own answer to the question simply post a comment in the box at the end of the list.

  • The feeling of achievement.

  • Having the challenge to overcome something I find difficult.

  • Feeling good about myself.

  • The feelings of achievement, self discipline and fitness.

  • The positive energy I get out of it.

  • The time to myself!

  • The opportunity to clear my head & refocus my energy.

  • It keeps me mentally sane, more than anything. I'd go mad!

  • The general sense of happiness and well being that running gives me.

  • The way it lifts my mood.

  • Time that is just for me, and knowing I can do something other than by someone's mum /wife!

  • Sense of achievement as am 64 and gone from zero to 3 miles since january this year.

  • Feeling good about myself.

  • Its the only thing I do in the week that is just for me.

  • Stress reducer.

  • The friendship and encouragement of the group.

  • Being outside exercising, friendship, completing a race.

  • The way it makes me feel, alive, energised.

  • I don't think I run - I shuffle. But I would miss the fact that it seems to have brought my Blood pressure rating down already.

  • Time to think.

  • The meditative & relaxation benefits.

  • It allows me to relax and forget about work etc!

  • The feeling of freedom and energy.

  • The improvement to my self esteem.

  • It is my 'me time' and my chance to 'get my stuff together in my head', it would be horrible if I couldn't run.

I agree with everything above, but I would like to add that one of the things I would really miss is being able to run around some of the trails near where I live, the beautiful views, wildlife and the sheer pleasure of being amongst nature.
